Aged Care Facility

Project Overview

An aged care facility in Queensland, Australia, required a reliable way to monitor residents who may wander out of their rooms at night.

To help staff respond when a resident leaves their room, a detection solution was needed that could easily integrate into the facility’s existing nurse call system.

Primary Challenge

The facility needed a discreet, reliable way to detect movement through resident doorways and alert staff when someone exited their room.

The solution also needed to integrate with the existing nurse call system, providing a practical way to notify staff without introducing a separate monitoring system.

Outcome & Impact

The PS-530E provides the facility with a long-term resident monitoring solution integrated into its existing nurse call system. When a resident passes through a monitored doorway, the sensor can trigger the corresponding nurse call point, alerting staff so they can respond as needed.

By combining doorway detection with the facility’s established alert system, the installation supports staff awareness of resident movement while making use of the infrastructure already in place.

A Flexible Solution for Care Environments

This installation demonstrates how PS-530E can be adapted beyond its traditional request-to-exit application. By integrating the sensor with a nurse call system, the facility has put its doorway detection capabilities to use in supporting resident monitoring and staff response.

The project highlights the versatility of our sensing technologies in environments where reliable detection and integration with existing systems are essential.
