How do they work?

Request-to-Exit (REX) sensors are access control devices that allow authorized individuals to safely and conveniently exit a secured area without requiring credentials.

They are essential for any door secured with an electromagnetic lock (mag lock), and commonly used with electric strikes too.

Upon approach, REX sensors detect that someone intends to exit and trigger a signal to the access control system to temporarily disengage the door lock.

Once the door closes (and a set time delay, if configured, has passed), the access control system re-engages the lock, securing the door again.

What do they do?

Request-to-Exit sensors are a crucial component in access control systems, primarily used to provide a safe and convenient way for individuals to exit a secured area without requiring credentials (like a keycard or code).
