Color Sensors determine the color of the targeted object by identifying its color is the same as the registered color by analyzing its reflection into the primary color components of Red, Green, and Blue that are proportion of the components for verification.
Mark Sensors differentiate between the colors without making contact with the object by correlating between the mark colors, background colors, and light source colors. They are mainly used on bag making machines, automatic wrapping machines, printing presses, etc. and various types of control such as detection of register marks to position for wrapping and cutting.
Color sensors operate by sensing the reflected light of internal RGB LED (red, green, and blue) illuminators and comparing the reflected light with the illumination light to derive a high quality and high confidence signal that corresponds to the actual color of the object being detected.
Repeatability and/or deviation from a specific value are key elements for Color Sensors to be used in process controls. Variations of this sensor use halogen, tungsten light source or external illumination. Applications include fruit sorting based on color, textile, thread identification, or color verification of self-illuminating objects, etc.
The Mark Sensor was developed to detect a specific mark, change of color, or other process indication of mark or bar.
These Mark sensing units are used in the detection of labels on backgrounds, printing systems, etc. where color and/or height can influence the process operation. The optical axis match is easy, and the detection accuracy is greater than the diffuse reflection type. Mark Sensors are available in Red, Green, and Blue illumination and can be very color specific, or more general purpose as needed. These sensors are primarily used in packaging, labelling, printing and textile industries, but it can also be used anywhere specific related for mark detection that is required.
